Boston-based telehealth company American Well has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in a Massachusetts federal court against Dallas-based Teladoc, claiming the latter stole the former’s mobile phone technology, the Boston Business Journal reported on June 8.

In the lawsuit, American Well said that in the ten years of its operation, it has steadily been crafting technologies that would enable patients to communicate with the doctors on a one-on-one basis, including through video conferencing.

American Well then stated that Teladoc, which provides a similar service, has been using their technology despite the 26 patents American Well has so far secured to protect their innovations.
