“Diversity is not just about age, gender, race, and socio-political class—diversity itself is a culture. It is about unique perspectives and strong personalities, and it is a culture that I always advocate for in the legal community.”
Committed to thinking globally and passionate about exploring diverse cultures, Heliane traveled halfway across the world; received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, summa cum laude, from Angeles University in the Philippines; and worked as a writer for a printing company in Hong Kong.
Prior to law school, Heliane worked as a Human Resources Coordinator for a local aviation company. She has a certificate on Air Transport Fundamentals from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). She graduated from UNT-Dallas College of Law, cum laude, and received CALI awards for earning the highest grade in Legal Research and Writing, Administrative Law, Professional Responsibility, and Criminal Law. Having started formal debate training at the age of 13, Heliane constantly wants to learn more; she attended the 2016 Academy of the Advocate – School of the Trial at the University of St Andrews in St Andrews, Scotland, with Baylor Law.
While in law school, Heliane served as a legal intern for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the 14th Civil District Court of Dallas, Texas, and the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA). She was also a Legal Research and Writing Fellow at UNT-Dallas and a researcher for a renowned firm that focuses on conflict resolution techniques and mediation. Prior to joining Gagnon, Peacock & Verekee, P.C., Heliane worked at a Dallas-based law firm that handles personal injury, intellectual properly, cybersecurity, and business law.
Heliane also remains active in the legal community. She was a participant of the 2017 Dallas Women Lawyers Association (DWLA) and continues to support community service programs that help elevate the standing of women in the legal profession.
Consistently integrating character and competence in the practice of law, Heliane offers personalized legal service in strategizing and advocating for each case—ranging from pre-judgment orders to appellate review relief.
Away from the office, Heliane visits her family in Los Angeles and travels farther with her purebred Shih Tzu, Muffin.
