A new record has been set for patent lawsuits filed in a single day. On Monday, November 30, 257 new patent complaints were filed, with 196 of those being in the District of East Texas. Some of the targets for these suits include Apple and Airbnb. The majority of these complaints were filed by shell companies who seek payments from prolific businesses for the use of any intellectually property for which they previously claimed ownership.
One of these companies is CrystalPeak Solutions, which filed 37 lawsuits against companies like Netflix and Macy’s for the use of certain Internet security protocols.
